We’ve never been married to a particular design style at ADJ Interiors. Really, defining style down to a single word is something we try to avoid.

When you’re knee-deep in interior design inspiration, it can feel like you need to put a label on your style (traditional, contemporary, farmhouse, boho chic, the list goes on) in order to move forward in the process. But, we believe you DON’T need to label it. Behind each of those styles are classic elements that have been around for centuries just waiting for you to put your modern twist on.

Our role as an interior design firm is to translate your style into something that works for years to come. Here are a couple of things we think are more important than defining your design style.

Mainstream styles lack uniqueness.

Those typical design labels you’ll see when looking for inspiration can of course serve as a jumping-off point prior to calling us to set up your initial consultation. What makes your style unique and organic are the little quirks outside of these cookie-cutter labels.

And if you feel like you don’t have a style, no worries … we can rely on the architecture, square footage of your home, and preferred colors to come up with ideas that have a modern sensibility while putting the cherry on top.

One of our long-time clients has established their home’s colors as black, white, and chrome. They’ve realized that gold and bold color just aren’t who they are. Over the years, the ADJ team has continuously used their preferred aesthetic and found new and exciting ways to make their space feel modern and current.

One thing we can promise: we will try to push you out of your comfort zone with some cutting-edge design (We guarantee the payoff will be worth it!).

Function matters most.

At the beginning of your interior design journey, it can be easy to want to jump into the fun, pretty stuff. With our process, we always concentrate first on how you want to function and feel in your home.

With those two things top of mind, magic can happen. We sit down with you to do the hard work of figuring out how your space can function best and make it stylish. It may not be the most glamorous part of the project, but we believe it’s vital to the success of the design.

Trends come and go; your style stays.

Just as fashion trends are cyclical, so are interior design trends. What you should know is it’s not the name of the trend that sticks around — it’s the longevity of classic, underlying features.

For example, our Glencairn clients are wanting to revamp spaces in their home. When we visited for a consultation, we loved to see the original designs still looking great and not out of place a decade later. Creating something that still feels in style 10+ years later is what we aim for with every project.
